A flock of over 2,500 white paper doves will fly through our nave in this installation by German artist Michael Pendry, a talented designer and artist who divides his time between London and Munich.
The doves are a symbol of the spirit but also of peace, they float through the nave of the church forming an almost 12 metre long sculpture. Light moves around the space and over the sculpture simulating the doves in flight.
Congregations from as far afield as the Abbey of Dormition in Jerusalem, Heiliggeist Church in Munich, St Joseph’s Church in Burghausen City and St Martin in the Fields, London, have already gazed in awe at Michael’s doves high above them, and, as well as Salisbury, exhibitions in San Francisco and St Petersburg are already in the pipeline.
“Each installation is the same and I hang the doves myself. Sometimes it takes a few hours until you get used to the height,” Michael smiles.
Wednesday 13 June 13:05-13:35 - join us under the doves and listen to the White Doves Choir singing their music promoting peace and harmony.
